Overall rating: 4.8 / 5 from 45 reviews.
Very light and strong, very easy to cut through turf.
Used the new carbon spade for a few weeks now.
It's the best spade I have used for metal detecting and I have tried a lot.
Light Strong and perfect length.
No problem In pasture, heavy clay soil and ploughed.
Can't rate it highly enough.
If your into metal detecting get one you won't be disappointed.
Shovel works good but what appears to be powder coating fell off on first use in sand and allows shovel to rust. I used Krylon paint to repair and it is better than what CKG used.
I got this shovel many months ago . I put an edge on the blade with a medium Flat Bastard file . This thing is an Animal ! It's light and light enough to even use one handed and it doesn't flex at all . The sawblade edge on the blade sides are a cool feature too . I dig in some pretty hard dry clay ground here in Deep South Texas and have made Sharpshooter Shovel Blades flex pretty bad before . That won't happen with this shovel . It is worth the money . Money well spent for sure .
The carbon handle is awesome, however be careful on how much pressure you apply while digging. I snapped the spade while digging a 8 inch plug in sandy loam soil. No rocks or prying up anything difficult. Unfortunately for me this happened after 13 months, no warranty! CKG did offer a 20 percent discount if i purchased another. But, considering how it broke from non abuse i went with a new excaliber sir Kay.
I have only used it for a few hours. its light and strong only time/use will tell how durable it will be, It looks great I have the matching carbon fiber handle sand scoop and it is holding up well,,,Thanks CKG
I purchased this shovel at a recent Detecting event. What I noticed right away was the crazy weight difference. At 2.25 lbs this shovel you can carry around all day. Second I noticed is although it’s constructed of carbon fiber it’s very strong. I was digging in rocky, roots, and field environment and I could pry on it like I did with my much heavier shovel. I can’t wait to get back out and increase my Detecting hours with this shovel in hand. Thank you for a great product
When I opened the package, I was pleasantly surprised—it was exactly what I was looking for! The length, weight, and design are perfect. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for the ideal metal detecting shovel.
I’m really impressed with how well-built this tool is, and it’s surprisingly not too heavy. I took it out metal detecting and put it through some tough tests, and it held up great. I’ll definitely buy again in the future!
Strong welds and solid construction make this tool a standout. I’ve been using it as my primary digging tool for metal detecting, and it’s holding up great. Highly recommend it
This shovel is the perfect size and looks great! Carbon Fiber shaft saves weight but it is extremely durable. Perfect addition to our Metal Detecting digging tools arsenal. We're going to feature this in our upcoming "UndergroundMetalDetecting" videos on Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, & more!
