Perfect first detector for family weekendsI bought that md as a starter for me and my 10-year-old. Out of the box it was truly plug-and-play: batteries and headphones included, clear LCD, and the vibration alert made it easy for my son to know when to dig without blasting sound. We found a handful of coins in the park on day one. Pinpoint mode really cuts down the digging area. Depth on coins was around 6–8 inches in our soil. Great value at this price.
Solid on dry sand—bring spare 9VsTook this to a local beach (dry sand) and had a blast. Notch and DISC helped ignore most bottle caps. The small scoop that comes in the set is surprisingly useful. I like the backlight for evening hunts and the carry bag keeps everything together. Battery life is fine but not amazing-pack an extra 9V or two if you plan a long session. Overall, a simple, confidence-building detector for beginners.
Clear target ID and easy learning curveI’m new to detecting and wanted something under $100 to learn with. That md's screen shows target type and depth clearly, and the vibration cue is great when I don’t want to use audio. Switching from All Metals to DISC reduced junk a lot, and Pinpoint is accurate enough that I’m not tearing up the yard. Build feels light but sturdy, and the included headphones are a nice touch. Would recommend to any first-timer.
Great gift—kids love the haptic feedbackGot this as a birthday gift for my nephew. We set it up in five minutes and he immediately understood the four modes. The coin game is a clever way to practice. Works best in parks, schoolyards, and dry sand. On wet salt sand it needs more tweaking and can chatter, so we stick to dry areas as the manual suggests. For the price, you get a full kit and an easy path into the hobby.
